The phrase “education is the key to successful implementation” is neither new nor surprising. Any organization that has navigated change understands that lasting results come only when people are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to act.

When ISO 23875 was introduced in 2021, it brought with it both engineering and process solutions to one of the most persistent challenges in mining and heavy industry: operator enclosure air quality. The standard addressed engineering design, testing, and validation of air-quality systems for operator cabs. Equally important, it established processes to ensure that once a machine is delivered to site, its systems continue to perform effectively in protecting the operator.

Over the past four and a half years, much has been learned about how to implement ISO 23875 in real-world environments. One insight has become abundantly clear: without consistent and comprehensive education, implementation is uneven and often difficult. Standards cannot succeed in practice if the people responsible for applying them are unsure of their role.

To directly meet this challenge, ISEEE developed a one-day professional development course titled Application of ISO 23875 in Operator Enclosure Air Filtration, Pressurization & Certification. This course is designed specifically for stakeholders across the operator enclosure ecosystem, clarifying not just what the standard requires but how each role—OEMs, retro-fitters, site managers, health and safety leaders, maintenance teams, and operators—can fulfill their part.

The course is supported by a recently published textbook of the same name. This text details the responsibilities of each stakeholder and lays out the precise actions necessary for implementation. Together, the course and textbook provide both the theory and the tools to make ISO 23875 a practical reality on site.

What makes the program unique is its complete package. Instruction is paired with a functional teaching cab for hands-on demonstrations, a textbook for reference, and an individually licensed copy of ISO 23875 for each participant. Beyond direct delivery, ISEEE makes the course available for licensing. Competent organizations can add the course to their own training portfolios, with ISEEE providing instructor training, instructor certification, textbooks, and the option to purchase a teaching cab. This model enables the expansion of ISO 23875 education globally, ensuring more stakeholders can access the knowledge needed to implement the standard effectively.

The mission is clear: provide thorough and competent education on ISO 23875 so that operators and mining companies alike can succeed in creating safer, healthier working environments. By making education widely available, ISEEE is ensuring that implementation is not only possible, but sustainable—helping to build a world where operators can work without compromise.
